1927 Georgian
Inspiration: Poirot, Citrus, Freddie Freeloader
A Dallas-born couple returned home to Highland Park with a vision to reimagine a 1927 Georgian residence through the lens of color, whimsy, and nostalgia. Designer Avery Cox transformed the historic shell into a family home alive with personality, a space that honors the couple’s roots while celebrating their creative spirit. Every decision, from architectural updates to material selections, reflects a sense of place and playfulness. The result is a joyful reinterpretation of classic Dallas style, merging tradition with a fearless embrace of color and pattern that feels both timeless and unmistakably modern.
We custom designed hardware for the space fashioned out of solid white oak. Each handle represents the shape of waves on the sand, situated on a shell pink backdrop.
A full gut renovation, this project is inventive, spirited, and fearless, with inspiration ranging from the Swiss alps to ancient Rome. We’ve created a high degree of theatricality for this art loving, joyful family of three.
This project truly lets the creative spirit free with its playful yet sophisticated palette and bold commitment to pattern and custom design elements.
Color is the soul of this home. From a sunny yellow entry that radiates optimism to a kitchen lined with sherbet-hued marble and acid-green barstools, Avery Cox uses pigment as poetry. Each shade carries emotion. The result isn’t just visually striking but emotionally resonant: a palette that tells the story of a couple unafraid to live vividly.
